Cost of Living Raise for Realtors?

In this chaotic economic environment I find that there are sellers are looking to list with Realtors that will give them a "reduced rate commission". I for one do not accept those listings as I want to work with someone who Respects and Values what I do for a Living. Key phrase, I do this for a living!!! For as long as I can remember, commissions have been set at 6%. While the cost of gas, advertising and everything else has risen substantially, the Realtors fee of 6% has remained the same.
We do not have 401ks funded by our buyers and sellers, insurance is not at a reduced rate for us self employed agents, and there is no guarantee that we will ever get paid by half or even any of the persons that we are working with. While I most certainly agree that it is not "all about the money", I do think that people need to make the same commitment to their Realtors as their Realtors are making to them, and place Value on what we do. We do not have off nights and weekends. We are stuck like glue to our phones and internet, and are expected to be present at a moments notice.
I for one do not mind any of this when I know that my buyers and sellers Respect and Value me and my professionalism and expertise. But, this all comes at a cost! Attorneys, Accountants, other professionals get paid by the hour and those fees have gone up substantially with the cost of living. Realtors should not be any different. We are one of the most important professionals in the United States, as if we do not sell homes, the economy does not revive itself! I think that we should be respected as such and I love all of those buyers and sellers that understand the hard work, effort and expertise that goes into our job and are happy to pay a full commission. After all, we only get paid when we get the job done!!
